Nike Hits The Ground Running In Summer 2012: Introducing the Nike Free Run +3, Nike Free 3.0 V4 and Nike Free 4.0 for an exceptionally flexible and super natural experience.
Nike Free Run +3
Free is where nature meets nurture. Where barefoot meets benefit.
Where anatomy meets advantage. Free is where super, meets natural.
MALAYSIA, 5th April 2012 – Since its debut in 2004, the wildly popular Nike Free has since evolved and been refined to further enhance the barefoot running experience for a variety of levels and preferences.
The Nike Free was born out of curiosity, innovation and a relentless drive to seek out new ways to help athletes perform. In 2000, after traveling to Stanford University and observing that legendary track coach Vin Lananna had been allowing his athletes to run barefoot on the soft grass of the Stanford University golf course for years, Nike researchers set out to see if all this barefoot running actually impacted the way athletes performed.
After years of studying the natural motion of the foot during exercise, the result was undeniable and the Nike Free was created. A shoe unlike any other that would let athletes reap the benefits of barefoot training without actually running barefoot. But that was just the beginning. The Nike Free marked the start of a whole new way of looking at footwear, and became the inspiration for many of Nike’s most exciting innovations in recent years.
Following a unique numbering system, each series in the Nike Free family follows a scale ranging from 0.0 (barefoot) to 10.0 (traditional running shoe) which indicates the level of cushioning in the shoe and the replication of natural barefoot motion.
This season kicks off with the launch of the Nike Free Run +3, offering runners a balance of enhanced flexibility and stability. Taking the best of the Nike Free Run+ 2 and improving on its design, the Nike Free Run +3 features a new customizable fit system, upper construction and a modified arch, while providing the strengthening and natural gait management benefits associated with barefoot running.
Featuring the Dynamic Fit construction that wraps the arch of the foot for a glove-like fit, the Nike Free Run +3 has a seamless upper that provides lightweight support where you need it most. This construction provides ventilation, comfort and a second skin fit. The sole’s natural movement is enhanced with trans-tarsal diagonal cuts through the arch which enhance natural motion flexibility and increasing foot strength. The Nike Free +3 offers a unique balance of flexibility, comfort and support.
Nike Free 3.0 V4
On the scale of bare foot to a traditional running shoe, the Nike Free 3.0 V4 is the closest Nike has come to delivering a truly barefoot experience for optimal foot strengthening and flexibility.
With the newly constructed modified upper arch, the Nike Free 3.0 V4 features a seamless upper that provides lightweight support where you need it. Its molded sock-liner mimics the curvature of the foot providing a great fit and enhancing comfort and support. Trans-tarsal diagonal cuts through the arch and sipes along the length and width of the mid-sole enhance flexibility and help maintain stability.
Nike Free 4.0
A step up on the “barefoot” scale from the Nike Free 3.0 V4, the Nike Free 4.0 allows runners to mimic the characteristics of barefoot running with the addition of increased stability. Featuring a seamless upper which provides lightweight support, the Nike Free 4.0’s deep flex grooves on the sole provide a more natural stride while the asymmetrical lacing system reduces pressure for enhanced comfort and a smoother, more supported run.
The Nike Free Run +3 (RM379), Nike Free 3.0 V4 (RM399) and Nike Free 4.0 (RM399) will be available in all Nike stores nationwide from 5th April, 2012.

Nike’s Dynamic Fit
Created in Nike’s Innovation Kitchen and Sports Research Lab, Dynamic Fit is designed to eliminate the space between the foot and the shoe for a customized fit that feels like the ‘second skin,’ no matter the foot size or shape. Dynamic Fit technology features soft material that wraps like fingers around the mid-foot and arch for a glove-like fit. The perfect fit can be achieved with a simple motion of tightening the laces, which are connected to the Dynamic Fit mid-foot cage for the perfect wrap.
