*Warning: Cringe-worthy and pun-filled post ahead!*
I guess ultra-runners are a little mad and I can’t wait to join their ranks, if I’m not mad already. These guys accummulate blisters like frequent flyer miles except that you’d welcome the points but not the blisters! Was just scouring Youtube for the best of the lot and here they are arranged in no particular order, and in my opinion a darn blistering blockbuster collection!
It’s a tribute to endurance athletes around the world and those who wear their battle scars and black toenails with pride!
Other than learning the many ways of lancing a blister, here’s what you learn after watching these videos:
- Blisters ain’t nice (yeah I hear you say “Tell me about it!”)
- A liquid or pus-filled area of skin the size of Cindy Crawford’s mole doesn’t qualify as a blister.
- Blisters look like grapes, and what comes out of it, grape juice or apple cider at least in color.
- Only ultra runners make videos of their blisters.
- Ultra runners have wicked sense of humor.
- Ultra runners laugh in the face of a blister (and adversity too I’m sure).
Happy blistering!

Wicked videos!!
And it’s blister-popping day for me. It’s a cause for celebration, yay!
But I was in luck coz bumped into Choi at the hotel lobby and got a Bodyglide. At least my blisters – a big nasty one on my left, small ones on my right – only made their presence felt the last few km, and after. I don’t think Vaseline would’ve done the same job. My feet were shielded in plasters too.
But I’d just take it that in ultras blisters are a given. And for me they don’t hurt as much as the rest of my body – quads, calves, shoulders, torso. Everywhere! You can just imagine how I move around right now
Now that’s education lol. Cant wait to start collecting some means ones!
Yikes! I thought my blisters after the 24 Hr walks were bad! These guys had it worse!
blister mania…!!!
Insane right? I squirmed too watching the Ferg Hawke clip again last night. And yes, BodyGlide rocks!
Ferg Hawke’s video is crazy…i pop my blisters too after a 10km barefoot using vibrams but none as crazy as these. I nearly puked my breakfast out.
Scary shit! Saw it at the wrong time, just as I took the courage to register for another marathon.
