My wish to run another marathon before TNF in October was granted with the organization of the 1st River Jungle Marathon happening on Aug 15th, basically just 3 weeks away. Training has been poor, no surprises there, which is why such long training runs (this is branded as a social run of 42-43K in distance) are important at least to me, to keep the motivation up.
The key features of this marathon are:
- It’s limited to just 50 runners
- Finishers get finisher’s t-shirts and certificates
- Refreshments along the way
- Untypical route. We’ll be running close to the countryside.
- Long hard climb in the middle of the route.
- Pace groups and support cars – safety in numbers
- Non-competitive
- Supported by Camelbak and Excel
Because we’ll be running along the village roads, we’re encouraged to bring along our hydration systems. Not only will we reduce wastage and throwaways, it provides me the chance to put on the Nathan again.
For more info or to register, just head on to the official website.

Great to hear that you are joining another one marathon this year; have you registered?
Man! I am really keen to join as I have yet to do one this year. Let me know as I may consider to go along with you if you have no objection. Just a thought that got to start a training program for this.
Will look up for you!
I am soooo glad James put this together! After SCKLM, I’ve been the laziest tart you ever known. And naturally, it becomes scary since TNF isnt far away. So this nice little run will be part of my training too and it’ll be fun running with friends and new ones too! See you there Jamie!
Yeah man! I’ve been slacking too.
I agree with Yim. After SCKLM, there’ll be a big void of full marathon events until SCBM/PBIM. Thanks to James for organising this event. Small crowd makes it easier to control and a countryside run away from busy city traffic. Eh Jamie, what would be better, Nathan or FuelBelt hydration belt? See u there bro!
@Chee Wee – Yes I’ve registered! Quick, limited to 50 only and see you there!
@KA – personal preference really. The key to wearing a hydrapack is to have it close to the core – so to minimize fatigue. To me the Nathan achieves that. It’s like wearing a vest really – packs close to the body almost naturally.
@Yim – I actually asked him to do another one in Sept. So that we have a 42K each month to force us to run long. My motivation is hard to kick start too. The key is doing this slow and easy and don’t force it.
We’re also signed up, (6 of us) , we just want to make new friends. I guess we will meet up on that day. -thank! DJ runners (DJ stands for Damansara Jaya).
That’s great! Always nice to see new runners!
wah lau…how nice if I can get leave be a supporter …need to try luck…
all the best to all runners..
Tey, hope to see you there!
