Photos From The Gold Coast
I thought I’d post some photos I made in Gold Coast. Other than the compact Lumix, I brought only the 5D and the 24-105/4 on this trip. Decided at the last moment to leave the 50 and 135 at home, and was I glad for the decision! All the photos shot using the iPhone and Lumix were processed on my flight back on the iPad after bringing them over via the iPad Camera Connector Kit. The more “serious” photos were basically processed once I got home. Here are some of my favourites.
Winter meant that I could grab photos with less “human clutter”. Come back in the summer and this place will be crawling with sun seekers for sure. With the scarce crowd, I could concentrate on making photos that highlights the wide expanse of sand, including some of the more adventurous high key treatment as you can see below.
And probably my best non-running environmental portrait. I passed the camera to Geraldine and just asked her to snap away. She made 2 shots, both very nice requiring no cropping. I didn’t adjust the horizon level of this one and I purposely blew out the highlights in post to get this effect. Shooting RAW meant I had a great leeway to get creative. Some banding on the top right but it’s perfect to me.
Even though lugging the heavy body and lens was a pain, literally, making such photos to look back on make it all worthwhile. If there’s any shot you fancy as your wallpaper, just let me know and I’ll turn it into a downloadable format.
